Chapter 31: How Can I Untie and Bond?
Once, the bound Brahmin came to the Buddha's residence, and after topping the Buddha, he sat down next to him, and the bound Brahmin said to the Buddha: "Venerable, the people of the world are bound by the thoughts that arise in their hearts, bound by the things of the world, who can untie this bondage, who can be freed from their thoughts and things in the world?" ”
At this time, the bound Brahmin said:
"Everyone is fascinated by the entanglement of inside and outside.
Ask Yu Qu Tan, who solves this entanglement."
The Buddha said, "Wise people are disciplined, and from this they discipline their physical behavior, speak their words, and do not let go of the thoughts that arise in their hearts, do not do evil deeds, stop evil and cultivate good, so that their hearts will be pure and peaceful, and wisdom will be opened." Cultivators and practitioners who practice intensively will be able to untie their inner thoughts and the things of the world on them. Those who have no longer had greed, anger, and foolishness, those who have understood the truth and rules of the world and believe in cause and effect, those Arhat sages who have eliminated all troubles and suffering, they have untied and bound their inner thoughts and things in the world, they will no longer worry about and cling to the things of the world, they will no longer worry and cling to their bodies, feelings, thoughts, actions, and understandings, they have judged separately from the things of the world, their bodies, feelings, thoughts, actions, Knowing the separate judgments is freed and will no longer be enslaved, tortured, or tortured by them. The things of the world can no longer cause them to be troubled and miserable. They see things with their eyes and do not arise or worry about thoughts they like or dislike; When the ear hears the sound, it does not arise or worry about the thoughts that it likes or dislikes; The nose smells the smell and does not arise or worry about the thoughts you like or dislike; When the tongue tastes the taste, it will not arise or worry about the thoughts of liking or disliking; The sense of touch generated by the body touching things will not arise or worry about the thoughts of liking or disliking; For the thoughts that come to mind, there will be no thoughts that arise or worry about likes and dislikes. Their hearts will not worry and cling to all the thoughts that arise in their hearts because they encounter the things and things of the world, and these thoughts have been destroyed by them, because they are not worried and attached to all the things and things in the world, because they are not worried and attached to all the thoughts that arise in their hearts, they will not be bound by all the things and things in the world, and they will not be bound by all the thoughts that arise in their hearts. In this way, they are freed from all things in the world, from all thoughts in their hearts, and these bondage and bondage are completely destroyed and severed by them, and they realize the fruit of liberation, and they are forever liberated from the torment and pain of the cycle of life and death. ”
At this time, the Buddha said:
"Wise people abstain in vows to cultivate the wisdom of the mind.
He who is zealous and prudent should be dissociated.
To be separated from greed, even ignorance.
Exhaust the arhats, free from entanglement.
Names and colors, obstacles and colors.
There is no end to destruction, and this is all entangled."
After the Buddha had spoken, the bound Brahmin said joyfully: "Venerable, what you said is so good, you have relieved my doubts for many years, please let me take refuge in you and be your disciple at home, I am willing to accept the precepts you have made, I am willing to practice according to your Dhamma." ”
The Buddha accepted the refuge of the bound Brahmins.

192. Sāvatthinidānaṃ Atha kho jaṭābhāradvājo brāhmaṇo yena bhagavā tenupasaṅkami; upasaṅkamitvā bhagavatā saddhiṃ sammodi. Sammodanīyaṃ kathaṃ sāraṇīyaṃ vītisāretvā ekamantaṃ nisīdi. Ekamantaṃ nisinno kho jaṭābhāradvājo brāhmaṇo bhagavantaṃ gāthāya ajjhabhāsi–
“Antojaṭā bahijaṭā, jaṭāya jaṭitā pajā;
Taṃ taṃ gotama pucchāmi, ko imaṃ vijaṭaye jaṭan”ti.
“Sīle patiṭṭhāya naro sapañño, cittaṃ paññañca bhāvayaṃ;
Ātāpī nipako bhikkhu, so imaṃ vijaṭaye jaṭaṃ.
“Yesaṃ rāgo ca doso ca, avijjā ca virājitā;
Khīṇāsavā arahanto, tesaṃ vijaṭitā jaṭā.
“Yattha nāmañca rūpañca, asesaṃ uparujjhati;
Paṭighaṃ rūpasaññā ca, etthesā chijjate jaṭā”ti.
Evaṃ vutte, jaṭābhāradvājo bhagavantaṃ etadavoca– “abhikkantaṃ, bho gotama …pe… aññataro ca panāyasmā bhāradvājo arahataṃ ahosī”ti.
