Chapter 54: Who Is the One Who Really Speaks?

At one time, the Buddha lived in the Garden of Solitude in the Gion Grove of the Acropolis. One day, a monk came to the Buddha's residence, and after he saluted the Buddha, he sat down on the side, and the monk said to the Buddha, "Venerable, what kind of person is the one who really speaks?" Who is the real speaker? ”


The Buddha said, "Bhikkhus, you must first understand the Dharma of Dependent Origin (the explanation of the Dependent Origin Method, see Chapters 48 and 49) before you can understand what the Dharma will be said to you after Rulai.


Bhikshu (monks) teach the masses to stop worrying about and clinging to old age, teach the masses to gradually free themselves from old death, teach the masses to destroy old death and no longer die of old age. Those who say this are the real speakers. ”


A monk (monk) who actually goes to practice in order to stop worrying about and clinging to old death, in order to gradually free himself from old death, in order to destroy old death and no longer die of old age. These people who practice according to the law are using their words and deeds to teach the masses without words, and they are also the true speakers.


If a bhikkhu has ceased to be concerned and clings to old death, he has been freed from old death, has destroyed old death, and will not continue to be reborn in the next life. No longer worrying about and clinging to everything in the world, no longer worrying about and clinging to all the thoughts that arise in the heart, have realized the fruit of liberation and reached the state of nirvana. Such a person is the one who has attained the fruit of enlightenment and attained the state of nirvana. They use the method of enlightenment and liberation to reach the state of nirvana to teach the masses wordlessly, they are also the people who really speak, they are also the speakers, they teach the public by the method of attaining the fruit of enlightenment and liberation, they teach the masses with the perfection of practice, so they are also the people who really speak.


Bhikkhus, by the same token, teach the masses to stop worrying about and clinging to birth, being, taking, loving, receiving, touching, six places, fame, knowledge, action, and confusion, teach the public to gradually liberate themselves from birth, being, taking, love, acceptance, touch, six places, fame, knowledge, action, and confusion, and teach the masses to perish life, have, take, love, receive, touch, the six places, the name, knowledge, action, and confusion, and no longer produce birth, being, taking, love, acceptance, touch, six places, name, knowledge, action, and confusion. Those who say this are the real speakers.


Bhikkhus, in order to stop worrying about and clinging to birth, being, taking, love, receiving, touching, six places, name, knowledge, action, and confusion, in order to gradually liberate themselves from birth, being, taking, love, acceptance, touch, six places, name, color, knowledge, action, confusion, in order to destroy life, being, taking, love, receiving, touching, six places, name, knowledge, action, confusion, no longer produce people who actually practice in birth, being, taking, love, receiving, touching, six places, name, knowledge, action, and ignorance. These people who practice according to the law are using their words and deeds to teach the masses without words, and they are also the true speakers.


Bhikkhus, if they have ceased to be concerned and clinging to birth, being, taking, love, acceptance, touch, six places, fame, knowledge, action, and confusion, have been liberated from birth, being, taking, love, receiving, touching, six places, name, name, knowledge, action, and confusion, they have already destroyed the rebirth of birth, being, taking, love, receiving, touching, six places, name, knowledge, action, and confusion, and will not continue to be reborn in the next life. No longer worrying about and clinging to everything in the world, no longer worrying about and clinging to all the thoughts that arise in the heart, have realized the fruit of liberation and reached the state of nirvana. Such a person is the one who has attained the fruit of enlightenment and attained the state of nirvana. They use the enlightenment and liberation fruit to reach the state of nirvana to teach the masses wordlessly, and they are also the ones who really speak, and they are also the speakers. They teach the masses by attaining the fruit of enlightenment and attaining the state of nirvana, and they teach the masses with the perfection of their practice, so they are also the ones who really speak. ”


After the Buddha's teachings, the monk once again paid homage to the Buddha, and he admired the immeasurable merits of the Buddha's teachings and practiced according to the Buddha's teachings.

SN.12.16/(6). Dhammakathikasuttaṃ


   16. Sāvatthiyaṃ …pe… atha kho aññataro bhikkhu yena bhagavā tenupasaṅkami; upasaṅkamitvā bhagavantaṃ abhivādetvā ekamantaṃ nisīdi. Ekamantaṃ nisinno kho so bhikkhu bhagavantaṃ etadavoca– “‘dhammakathiko dhammakathiko’ti, bhante, vuccati. Kittāvatā nu kho, bhante, dhammakathiko hotī”ti?


   “Jarāmaraṇassa ce bhikkhu nibbidāya virāgāya nirodhāya dhammaṃ deseti, ‘dhammakathiko bhikkhū’ti alaṃ vacanāya. Jarāmaraṇassa ce bhikkhu nibbidāya virāgāya nirodhāya paṭipanno hoti, ‘dhammānudhammappaṭipanno bhikkhū’ti alaṃ vacanāya. Jarāmaraṇassa ce bhikkhu nibbidā virāgā nirodhā anupādāvimutto hoti, ‘diṭṭhadhammanibbānappatto bhikkhū’ti alaṃ vacanāya.


   “Jātiyā ce bhikkhu …pe… bhavassa ce bhikkhu… upādānassa ce bhikkhu… taṇhāya ce bhikkhu… vedanāya ce bhikkhu… phassassa ce bhikkhu… saḷāyatanassa ce bhikkhu… nāmarūpassa ce bhikkhu… viññāṇassa ce bhikkhu… saṅkhārānaṃ ce bhikkhu… avijjāya ce bhikkhu nibbidāya virāgāya nirodhāya dhammaṃ deseti, ‘dhammakathiko bhikkhū’ti alaṃ vacanāya. Avijjāya ce bhikkhu nibbidāya virāgāya nirodhāya paṭipanno hoti, ‘dhammānudhammappaṭipanno bhikkhū’ti alaṃ vacanāya. Avijjāya ce bhikkhu nibbidā virāgā nirodhā anupādāvimutto hoti, ‘diṭṭhadhammanibbānappatto bhikkhū’ti alaṃ vacanāyā”ti.
