Chapter 73: Are Things Real in the World?

At one time, the Buddha lived in the Garden of Solitude in the Gion Grove of the Acropolis. One day, when the Janusoni Brahmin came to the Buddha's residence, he and the Buddha greeted each other, and then sat down on the side, and the Janusoni Brahmin said to the Buddha, "Gautama, I have a question for you now, can you answer me?" ”

The Buddha said, "Brahmin, if you have any questions, please say. ”

Jonusoni Brahman said, "Gautama, is everything in the world real? ”

The Buddha said, "Brahmins, if you think this is an extreme view, not the correct view. ”

Janusoni Brahmin said, "Is everything in the world false and untrue? ”

The Buddha said, "Brahmins, if you think this is also an extreme view, it is not a correct view. ”

Janusoni Brahmin said, "Gautama, what is the correct view? ”

The Buddha said, "Brahmins, if you do not worry about and cling to the two extreme views you just mentioned, if you are in the middle path, you say: "Doing" is produced by "ignorance" as a prerequisite, "knowledge" is produced with "action" as a prerequisite, "name" is produced with "knowledge" as a prerequisite, "six places" is produced with "name" as a prerequisite, "touch" is produced with "touch" as a prerequisite, "receive" is produced with "receive" as a prerequisite, "love" is produced with "acceptance" as a prerequisite As a prerequisite produces "taking", taking "taking" as a prerequisite produces "being", and taking "have" as a precondition produces "birth", so that having "birth" will produce sorrow, sadness, distress, worry, despair, aging, and death. This is the process by which the sufferings and troubles of people or beings in the world gather and appear, and people or beings in the world will continue to suffer and sink in the cycle of life and death according to the method of dependent origin (explained by the method of dependent origin, see chapters 48 and 49).

When "ignorance" completely fades, disappears, and disappears, "doing" is extinguished. When "doing" is destroyed, "knowledge" is destroyed. When "knowledge" is destroyed, "fame" is extinguished. When the "name" is destroyed, the "six places" are destroyed. When the "six places" are destroyed, the "touch" is destroyed. When the "touch" is destroyed, the "receive" is destroyed. When "suffered" is destroyed, "love" is destroyed. When "love" is destroyed, "take" is extinguished. When the "take" is destroyed, the "have" is destroyed. When the "have" is destroyed, the "birth" is destroyed. When "life" is gone, sorrow, sorrow, bitterness, worry, despair, old age, and death are gone. This is the process by which the sufferings and troubles of people or beings in the world are eliminated and destroyed. People or beings in the world can be freed from the troubles and sufferings of the cycle of life and death by following the retrograde movement of the method of dependent origin (explained by the method of dependent origin, see chapters 48 and 49). ”

After the Buddha's remarks, the Janusoni Brahmin said to the Buddha excitedly, "Dade, what you said is so good that I understand that everything in the world is born and destroyed. If we think that everything in the world is real, then when the things in the world gradually decay, perish, and disappear, we will think that this view is incorrect. If you think that everything in the world is false and untrue, then when things in the world gradually form, appear, and exist, you will think that this view is incorrect. Everything in the world is changing all the time, and there is nothing eternal. Some things decay, perish, and disappear, while others form, appear, and exist. There is no end to life and death, and the formation, appearance, and existence of worldly things, and the decay, extinction, and disappearance of worldly things will only occur under certain preconditions. That is to say, all things in the world, whether they are formed, appeared, existed, or decayed, destroyed, or disappeared, must meet certain preconditions to occur. Things in the world must meet certain conditions before they can change later, so they are said to be born and destroyed. The things of the world are neither real nor false or unreal, and things in the world will form, appear, and exist if certain preconditions are met. If certain prerequisites are met, things in the world will decay, perish, and disappear.

Dade, thank you for saying compassion for me today, I now fully understand, please Dade, let me convert to you, let me become your disciple at home, I am willing to be your disciple from now on, I am willing to accept the precepts you have made, I am willing to practice according to the Dhamma you say. ”

Buddha accepted the refuge of Jonusoni Brahmins. Jonusoni Brahmin respectfully bowed to the Buddha, admired the immeasurable merits of the Buddha's teachings, and practiced according to the Buddha's teachings.
