Chapter 37: Only by sowing many times can the fruit be reaped many times
Once, when the Buddha put on his robes at noon and took a rice bowl, he went door to door in the Acropolis, where he did not distinguish between rich and poor, and a Brahmin named Udhaya saw the Buddha coming to his dwelling and filled the Buddha's rice bowl with rice and fasting vegetables.
A few days later, the Buddha came to the abode of Udhaya Brahmins for the second time, and Udhaya Brahmins respectfully offered Buddha delicious meals.
A few days later, the Buddha came to the abode of Udha Brahmins for the third time, and Yodha Brahmin said to the Buddha a little bored: "Monk Gautama (Buddha), why do you come to me again and again to ask for offerings?" Are you greedy for our food to be tastier and tastier than someone else's? ”
The Buddha said, "Brahmins, if they come from house to house, regardless of whether they are rich or poor, and come to you many times to make karma, it is also the result of karma.
Brahmins, you have to understand that seeds will be sown many times, and rain will fall in the sky many times. Farmers can sow seeds, fertilize and plow the fields many times in order to harvest fruits many times. Monks and practitioners have eaten meals many times, and those who practice alms and alms have repeatedly provided for monks and practitioners. These benefactors who provide for their families and practitioners, they have planted many merits and merits for themselves many times, and they have been reborn in the heavenly realm many times to enjoy blessings. People in the world can milk cows many times, and they can get milk many times. If a cow conceives a calf many times, it can give birth to calves many times. The world has been tired, tired, and miserable countless times. People in the world have died countless times, and countless times they have died and buried in the ground. The bodies of people in the world have decayed into white bones countless times, and they have been reborn in this world countless times to suffer and suffer.
People in the world have suffered and tortured countless times in the cycle of life and death, and they do not know how to do more good deeds to plant more merit for themselves, so that the merit and merit planted by this are born into a rich house, born in the heavenly realm to enjoy blessings, and even eternally liberated from the torment and pain of the cycle of life and death. They are still foolishly doing countless evil deeds, and they are still creating countless sinful karma for themselves, which make them born into a poor house, descend into hell, hungry ghosts, and beasts, and make them suffer pain and suffering, they are really pitiful people, although Rulai knows that they are sinking into the pain and torment of the cycle of life and death, but they do not believe in Rulai's teachings, do not practice according to Rulai's right law, cut off evil and cultivate good, and do more good deeds, and Rulai cannot help them. Although there are cultivation methods that free sentient beings from the cycle of life and death, but sentient beings do not practice according to law, and if they do not come to save them, they are just like people who are seriously ill, unwilling to believe that doctors can cure their diseases, and unwilling to take the medicine prescribed by doctors. Without taking medicine and treating diseases in the way doctors say, doctors cannot cure seriously ill people, nor can they help them get rid of their illnesses and free them from their pain. ”
At this time, the Buddha said:
"Seeds are sown again and again, rain is falling again and again.
Repeatedly ploughed farmland, repeatedly grain fruit.
Repeatedly begging for food, repeatedly giving staple food.
Repeatedly giving and repeatedly traveling to the heavenly realm.
Repeatedly milking cows and asking for calves.
Tired and bitter, fools are repeatedly in the womb.
Repeatedly in life and death, repeatedly sent to the cemetery."
After the Buddha spoke, the Udhaya Brahmin knelt on the ground and said to the Buddha: "Dade, please forgive me for my rude words and deeds just now, I repent with you, I will never doubt and accuse monks and practitioners for no reason in the future, please let me take refuge in you and be your home practice disciple, I am willing to accept the precepts you have set, I am willing to practice according to your Dhamma." ”
Buddha accepted the refuge of Udhaya Brahmins.
